Background
This arrangement of Call Me Maybe is my most recent and proudest work. It was arranged for my high school's participation for the CBC Music Class Challenge, in which we won first place in the Senior Instrumental Category!
While arranging this piece, I wanted to showcase our school's unique string program by arranging this piece in an epic orchestral style. I took inspiration from orchestral covers of other pop songs like Viva la Vida that I came across. I used sustained chords, loud timpani and bass drums, and a powerful brass section. Although it was the first time I had arranged a piece in this style, I learned a lot and the judge commented, "I am so impressed by this creative arrangement for mixed instrumentation".
